National Bank honours Témiscamingue agri-businesswoman
Montreal, 3 October 2007 -
National Bank will proudly presented its Catherine Crolo Award tonight to Henriette Goulet-Mayer, co-owner of Ferme J.Y. Mayer et fils inc. This business, which has been operating in Béarn in Quebec’s Témiscamingue region for more than 37 years, specializes in raising chickens for poultry meat and eggs.
For the past nine years, National Bank has recognized a Quebec businesswoman in the agricultural sector for her energy and tireless dedication to achieving her goals. In addition to the award, Ms. Goulet-Mayer received a $500 RRSP courtesy of National Bank.
The Catherine Crolo Award was created by National Bank in honour of the first businesswoman in New France, Catherine Crolo, who in 1658 became the first intendant of the Ferme de la Providence that surrounded Montreal’s Maison Saint-Gabriel of the Congrégation Notre-Dame, which is now recognized as a national historic site. Under the direction of Sister Madeleine Juneau, this museum offers the public a variety of programs, including exhibits, lectures, concerts, and food tastings.
The agricultural sector includes many family-owned SMEs that have specific financial management and administration needs and face their own particular set of risks. The National Bank team boasts numerous farm advisors with extensive expertise and specialized training ― almost all are agronomists ― who understand and can support farmers. The Bank also offers a credit division dedicated exclusively to businesses that require agricultural and agri-food financing.
